To the Point

There comes a time in every epoch when pragmatism simply evolves into extreme acquiescence and surrender to the forces of apathy and do-nothingness, a guarantor of the status quo in all of its easy, democratic criminality--its fortress of greed. You could line up all the pols in the U.S. in a straight row and examine them head to toe and not find a single man or woman capable of admitting, never mind ending, the corruption of their vocation--Buddy Dooley

I went to the dentist today. Doc was pretty rough with me, and I could feel some nerves howling in my mouth even with a double dose of articaine numbing things up.

Well, it's worn off now, and I'm thinking I should have avoided the trip.

I thought your teeth were supposed to hurt before you went to the dentist!

He hammered, drilled, filed and scraped on two of 'em so hard I could feel it in mah brain,  and now I is ahurtin' like a rodeo clown that done been kicked in dee hayed.
