Quote:

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”--Martin Luther King

unsolicited advice to writers

if you’re unwilling to
die poor get a job and
save your money

write every day;
doggerel is okay if you
let it boil before putting

it away in the bottom drawer;
it’ll be there the next
day when you’re

out of toilet paper;
but check it first
for hidden gems

of illumination;
you’re a writer after all
with time to spare

and an insatiable appetite
for the rare truth
of inspiration
