Quote:

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”--Martin Luther King

Longhouse

Here is a delightful short video from Bob Arnold at Longhouse, the long-standing New England-based publisher and bookseller.

You'll note Bill Deemer's Variations is shown in the video, juxtaposed with the 1999 edition published by Longhouse.

The poems in the RBP edition are new and revised.

Bill's wonderful cover design for the RBP book really shines.

Here is a fine poem from Bill's book:

THE MONKEY

You pick
the fleas
off me,

I'll pick
the fleas
off you.

Bill also reminds me December 13 is Kenneth Patchen's 100th birthday. "Everybody read him in the '60s," he notes. "What happened?"

Indeed.

This is a favorite Patchen poem.

And a short Patchen bio from this blog.
