The Beginning

I discovered my new

theory quite by accident

on the sidewalk

written in chalk

in an unsteady hand

that might have been mine

the chalk writing said

"the world is fucked"

and I believed it to

be my handwriting

until I looked again

and noted a distinct pallor

that I shared with the

chalk but could not

duplicate
